Never Have I Ever.

The other day I told you that I've never baked cookies by myself which got me to thinking of other "common" things I've never done. (Read: I am a lame ass.)

Never Have I Ever:

Cooked a pot roast/roast beef.
Growing up this was a staple in our house. I looked forward to the days when Mom had a big hunk of pot roast in the oven with mashed potatoes and homemade gravy. Although I love that meal more than anything.. I've never cooked it myself.

Had my own apartment.
I received a partial scholarship for college with one of the stipulations being that I live on campus all four years to "experience" the college life. Living in a dorm didn't bother me since I have 3 sisters and I shared a room my whole life. After sophomore year though I opted to pay for a single dorm room which I loved. It was like my own apartment. My very tiny, single 1 bedroom apartment, with 500+ roommates.

College Life

Dyed my hair pink or some other crazy color.
I was pretty boring growing up. Well, I guess the right word would be responsible. I think my mother would have killed me if I came home with hot pink or blue hair. Even when I got into my teenage years I didn't care to do something crazy like that since I always had a job and I assumed employers didn't like the rebellious teen look.

Gotten a tattoo.
Sure, I've thought about it. But not seriously. My sister has a few and I love hers but I am just too chicken. And cheap. And indecisive. Therefore- no ink for me.

Driven a stick shift car.
Paco has tried to teach me a few times but I am just un-teachable when it comes to driving standard.

Eaten sushi.
The thought doesn't really interest me.

Played a sport.
I wasn't on a basketball, softball, or baseball team growing up. I was a cheerleader in high school though.

Had braces.
Although, I think I could have benefited from them I never had braces.

Traveled for work.
I am SO jealous of all you people who fly around the country for work. Hook a sister up.

Fired a gun.
Growing up in NEPA this is hard to believe since the majority of people I know are hunters.

Been to Disneyland or Disneyworld.
Maybe one day when I have kids I'll take them?

Watched Gone with the Wind.
I have no idea how I managed to avoid this movie since my mother and sister love it. But I've never watched the whole thing.

Read the classics.
Such as Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice, Catcher in the Rye and so on.

Been out of the country.
Minus a class trip to Canada in the 6th grade I've never been out of the U.S.

Had a fancy Starbucks drink.
I drink black coffee therefore skinny latte mochas cupcake milkshake sprinkle sparkle drinks are not my style.

Dunking Donuts Coffee large Black

Not bitten my nails.
I am a terrible nail biter and cannot quit no matter how much I try.

What are some of your "Never Have I Evers?"

  1. I had never eaten sushi until probably 2 years ago and I love it now! I'm not very adventurous with it, I stick to just a couple of the not-scary-or-gross looking ones! ;) I don't drink coffee really, only drinks that don't TASTE like coffee- but I'm a tightwad and can't pay for Starbucks. It's been well over a year since I've been in one, and the last time I visited I used a giftcard ;)

  2. I just got my first tattoo this year... and my second one a few months later. Even though I've got a an irrational fear of needles.
I've driven a stick shift, but am I good at it? Hell no. I was never taught properly (damn ex boyfriends).
I just started eating sushi last year. And I only eat two kinds: salmon and salmon. And the rice that accompanies it. That's it. Hashtag basic bitch. Though I have started trying others... I'm just too picky of an eater so I get one bite and spit it out in THEE classiest of manners, of course.
My whole life is sports. I don't know what I'd do without them.
I had braces on and off for (you might wanna sit down for this one) 6 YEARS. Got them off in between junior and senior year. F my life, right?
I don't know how you are able to go through life knowing that Disneyland is a real thing and you've never experienced it! Mind. Blown.
Oh, and I don't read or watch the classics. And I'm not ashamed.

  3. Unfortunately, I dyed my hair "cherry cola red" once in high school for a swimming playoffs meet, and I have tried to hide all pictures from that time as it was not a good look for me! I'm very guilty of getting fancy Starbucks drinks..they are too good to resist! Definitely agree with not driving stick shift..seems too complicated!

  4. Pot roast is one of the easiest things you'll ever cook if you have a crockpot! It's the perfect meal for this time of year too :)

  5. I never tried sushi until I got married. My husband lived in Japan for three years and of course loves sushi so over time I've gotten more comfortable with it!

  7. I love that you haven't really left the country. That makes me feel better. I often read about all of these bloggers that travel the world and I also work with and am around so many people that have seen it all. I however, left Canada twice to go to Louisiana when my auntie lived there. That is all. I must travel one day! Imagine the things that we are truly missing out on.

I just made a roast in the crock pot and it turned out pretty good. But I like you, have never popped one into the oven and made a full on roast beef dinner and I hear that it's very, very easy. No pink hair for me. But there were a few times when I had it dyed and it turned out looking more purple-y than the red I was going for.... Cheap Wal-Mart do it yourself dyes will do that...!

  8. I too have never had my own apartment, or have lived on my own. Also, I have never been out of the country besides Canada, but that was way back before you needed a passport to cross the border.
Love your writing style & I'm glad I stumbled upon your slice of the World Wide Web!
